Sounds like a plan. Colour me Gifted Human and give me someone to kill.

It was canceled. Now it's not. I stay confused, people.
The Hunters and the Hunted is going to be a PvP RP that I have come up with. It is not based on any book or storyline, it's coming straight out of my head, so there is some give and take in the storyline - however this ONE thing will not give: C's will die in this storyline. If you do not like letting your C's die, if you do not like being 'hunted', or hunting another, if you do not like RPing combat using T1 rules and you don't think you can be fair with your fellow RP'ers, then please do NOT join The Hunters and the Hunted, because that's what this will be all about. Still in? Excellent!
The year is 2007 and the city is St. Louis. The Twin towers fell, Iraq is a mess and GW is still in the White House. AIDS is still a problem and so is the Bird Flu. Paris Hilton IS in jail and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt just adopted their second child. Get the point? ~Modern~ day. But with one little twist... There are 'unnaturals' walking the earth disguised as humans.
Magic, once so plentiful, has begun to fade as it is conquored by science and technology and can now be found only in a VERY VERY few, rare humans (Read: No played 'magical' humans) and can be found in VERY weak doses in the 'immortal' or 'unnaturals' (Read: No 'ancients with centuries of power to call on'). Born into this era of man and magic are humans with eyes that can glow white to strip away the facade of a glamour to see the truth hidden underneath, people called Visionaries, and once they see the 'truth', they are compelled to hunt and kill the 'unnatural'. By that same token, an unnatural is able to tell who are Visionaries and who are not, and because they know a Visionary will kill them once they are spotted, the unnatural will, naturally, attempt to kill him/her first.
And it's all done underground, at night, down dark alley's. Sure, the government 'knows' about the 'unnaturals', but their official position is that they don't exist and neither does the society that 'observes and records unnatural activity', the Illaryan Society. Illaryan's are ALL mortal and have a strict 'hands off' policy when coming across either an unnatural or a Visionary - interaction on any level is forbidden. They are watchers and recorders ONLY. So if you'd like to be involved and don't want to sacrifice a C, there's always the option of being part of the Illaryan Society.
Because C's will die in this storyline - it's designed that way. When you post in The Hunters and the Hunted as either an unnatural or a human C and you don't already have someone worked out to go into a 'scene' with, you are essentially saying "I'm open to either killing, or being killed". Now, to avoid the drama that these PvP situations can become, here's the deal. We're all adults here. If you have a partner already in mind when you post for your C, you can either work out with them in advance (or during play, I don't care) whose C will die, OR you can ask for a decision to be made by your peers on who 'won', and then post for your C's accordingly. You may make the fighting as drawn out or 'to the point' (without autoing) as you and your partner wish - however there is ONE rule... Whoever doesn't win the fight, if they DO get away (and yes, 'escapes' CAN occur, if they don't become a habit for your C otherwise Big Momma Lara steps in. You get two escapes per C for the life of that C), they are now hunted by the other.
Thus the name of the RP - The Hunters and the Hunted. Your C can easily become one as much as the other.
An 'unnatural' can be anything not human from a vampire to an imp, a troll, fae, elf, angel or demon... Just remember they are a 'fantasy' race and they do not walk around in their normal appearance, that is to say, trolls don't walk around looking like trolls. They look like construction workers or bouncers or something to that effect. Normal human. They can use magic in some very mild forms, no 'teleporting' or opening rifts in reality, no monstrous fireballs, no mass convergance of shadows opening portals to the Abyss and swirling, never-ending pain followed then by a slow torturous death, though we all love those types of C's. For an unnatural, thanks to the dilution of 'magic', holding a glamour over themselves is pretty much the extent of their abilities. Maybe some very mild telepathy types or some really fast runners, but nothing too much, too outrageous.
We humans, we aren't completely unarmed for this fight, however. Because trolls do have naturally thick, very tough skin and vampires can see EXTREMELY well at night, mortals are allowed ONE 'enchanting/enchanted' item per C to begin with. As your C defeats another, they can take the fallen's 'magical' item, if they carry one (elves might have an amulet if they're born powerless, for example), and use it for themselves. The more 'power' your C has, the harder it will be to defeat in battle, but remember this too - the power is not 'natural' for a human, therefore is more likely to corrupt, causing one once considered 'good' to become darker, more evil, more prone to hurting their fellow man or random acts of violence. Which will almost assuredly make your C hunted.
Oh, also, if you DO have a partner already when you post for your C (because a lot of us DO talk and plot on IM's about the C's and our storylines, before we come play), then just put a little note in your subject line like "Taken", or if you need a partner put something like "Open", and if you're simply writing a solo to give your C depth or because you're inspired, put "Solo" next to the title in the subject line, just to avoid confusion. If you see/read a scene that you look interested in ask if you can join - this doesn't necessarily have to be 'pairs' playing if you're creative and can work something out. Alliances between humans is good; lycans do form packs. Team work and strategy could very well win your C's life as opposed to all out street brawling.
It bears being said that one is not limited to playing just one C in the storyline. If you would like to play a gargoyle in one RP with one person and a Visionary in another RP and an Illaryan watching another RP, go for it. It's just up to YOU to keep up with your RP's.
So, I think that about covers it. You can reply with questions, ideas, suggestions, whatever. If this catches on, I'll create a realm for it to keep shit together.
Happy hunting! ~Lara
